The downloadable version of Graphael comes as a JAR file, which can be run by double-clicking it (on windows), or through the "java -jar Graphael.jar" command. It is not reccommended to run it via the "Open" command from your browser, as it may cause trouble with reflection.
The graphael JAR file must be in the current working directory the program starts. Otherwise, the main window will never show up. Also, no other JAR or class files should be in the working directory or they may be taken as potential plugins.
Running Graphael in offline mode offers the following advantages to the applet version:
- Custom GML files can be used.
- The CFG can be saved to and restored from a file.
- User plugins can be created (just place the files in the working directory).
- Images and animations can be saved to disk.
